Students will research, interpret, and analyze poetry. Students will understand how to bring poetry to life. Students will incorporate facial expressions, eye contact, gestures, tone, and body language when presenting. Common Core Standards Reading: Literature Key Ideas and Details: RL.9-10.1 Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. RL.9-10.2 Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze in detail its development over the course of the text, including how it emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details; provide an objective summary of the text. Speaking & Listening SL.9-10.1 Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grades 9-10 topics, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively. Directions: Research, analyze, and interpret various types of art. Art is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. Art can express a variety of ideas. Explore literature, paintings, sculptures, music, dance, architecture, or cinema. Select a category and select a piece of art within that category. Submit your analysis and art selection online. Literature Analysis 1. Discuss your art category. 2. Who created the art? What is the title of the art? When was it created? 3. Summarize the art. What do you see or hear? 4. What does the art symbolize? 5. What is the purpose/objective? Is it to inform, entertain, or persuade? 6. Discuss the mood. 7. Discuss the theme. 8. Discuss the reason for your selection. 9.
