Students will understand how to research, organize chapter information, and create a multimedia presentation. Students will also understand how to incorporate facial expressions, eye contact, gestures, tone, and body language when presenting. Project Due Date: 2/16/2024 Presentation Due Date: 2/26/2024 Common Core Standards Speaking & Listening SL.9-10.1 Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on topics, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively. SL.9-10.1.A Come to discussions prepared, having read and researched material under study; explicitly draw on that preparation by referring to evidence from texts and other research on the topic or issue to stimulate a thoughtful, well-reasoned exchange of ideas. Writing W.9-10.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content. W.9-10.2.A Introduce a topic; organize complex ideas, concepts, and information to make important connections and distinctions; include formatting (e.g., headings), graphics (e.g., figures, tables), and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension. W.9-10.7 Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects to answer a question (including a self-generated question) or solve a problem; narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate; synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation. Guidelines (Research and Collaboration Exercise) The purpose of this project is to give you the foundation for Introduction to Communication. This course will focus on five chapters. Chapters 3, 11, 12, 16, and 18 will be covered. Select a chapter from the textbook and teach the chapter to the class. This is a group project presentation. All objectives must be covered. Rubric: 600 Points Slideshow: 100 Points Skit: 100 Points (1 Minute Minimum) Video: 100 Points (5 minute max) Game: 100 Points Group Collaboration: 100 Points Incomplete Project Submission: 70 Points Did you submit the entire project completed and on time? Did you focus on the project during group time? Presentation: 100 Points Slide Show Requirements: Chapter Title and Group Members: 05 Chapter Objectives: 10 Orange Speech Vocabulary: 25 10 Terms, Definitions, and Examples Introduction: 10 Key Information from Each Section:25 News Article Summary: 25 Research information outside of the textbook. Find a news article or magazine article that will enhance your chapter project. Summarize and present the information. Group Instructions: Step 1: Organize your desks into your assigned groups. Step 2: Select textbooks from the cabinet. Step 3: Read your assigned chapter. Step 4: Discuss your assigned sections with your group members. Step 5: Take notes on your assigned chapter. Step 6: Discuss videos that would enhance your chapter presentation. Step 7 : Work together to create a multimedia presentation and a game. Step 8: Practice your skit. Step 9: Create an interactive game for your chapter. Step 10: Put the class back together again. Step 11: Return to your assigned seats. Step 12: Stay seated until dismissal.
