Students will understand how to bring components of film to life. Guidelines It is time to bring components of film to life through projects. Select a project from our class website and follow the guidelines for that specific project. Rubric: 300 Points Total Project:200 Points Presentation: 100 Points Common Core Standards Writing CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.1 Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content. Speaking & Listening CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.11-12.4 Present information, findings, and supporting evidence, conveying a clear and distinct perspective, such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning, alternative or opposing perspectives are addressed, and the organization, development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose, audience, and a range of formal and informal tasks. Option 1- Character Poem Character Biography Poem Poster / Slideshow Directions: Create a biographical poem based on a film of your choice. Create a poster or a slideshow that represents that character's personality. Guidelines (Line 1) First Name (Line 2) Three or four adjectives that describe the person (Line 3) Important relationship (daughter of…, father of…, etc.) (Line 4) Two or three things, people, or ideas that the person loved (Line 5) Three feelings the person experienced (Line 6) Three fears the person experienced (Line 7) Accomplishments (Who composed…., who discovered…,etc.) (Line 8) Two or three things the person wanted to see happen or wanted to experience (Line 9) Residence Line 10) Last name * You are welcome to change some of the lines to be creative. The goal is to make sure that you have 10 lines. *Don't forget to add images. Option 2- Scene and Poetry Interpretation Research and select a poem that could highlight a scene from one of the films that we examined during class. How does the poem connect to the scene? Analyze and discuss the poem and scene. Respond in a one-page essay. Double space and use 12-inch font. Option 3- Scene Annotation Annotate a scene from a film of your choice. Show the scene with a voice over. (At least 2 1/2 minutes) Option 4 - Monologue Present a one-minute, memorized monologue from a film of your choice. Option 5 A - Scene and Video Interpretation Create an original video that could enhance a film of your choice. The video should interpret and highlight scenes, a character from the film, or the entire film. (At Least 2 Minutes) Option 5 B - Character and Video Interpretation Create an original video that could enhance a film of your choice. The video should interpret and highlight scenes, a character from the film, or the entire film. (At Least 2 Minutes) Option 6 - Persuasive Speech Project Research films in a variety of genres and create a persuasive speech presentation. Your opinion of the film may be the best, the funniest, the scariest, the worst, or the most inspirational. Do not use songs from the current movie soundtrack. Your presentation should be a slide show with links to the music. Your slide show must have an introduction, background information, 3 songs explaining the film connections, a conclusion, and a source slide. Select at least 3 songs and explain how your songs connect to the film.The goal is to interpret the scene or the entire film through music. Your presentation should be a slideshow with links to the music. Your slide show must have an introduction, background character information, 3 songs explaining the character connections, a conclusion, and a source slide. Title Slide: Name and Title: 10 Points Character Background Information: 10 Points Song 1 and Character Connection: 20 Points Song 2 and Character Connection: 20 Points Song 3 and Character Connection: 20 Points Conclusion Slide: 10 Points Source Slide: 10 Points Option 9 - Lyric Interpretation Select a song of your choice, connect it to your favorite genre, and demonstrate accurate knowledge of the lyrics. Bring the lyrics to life. The lip sync performance should be at least 2 minutes. If your song is more than 2 minutes, continue to the end. You must perform the entire song. Your performance can be recorded in advance or performed live. You are also welcome to create a music video of yourself without adding a lip sync component. Option 10 - Movie Trailer Select a film of your choice and create an original one-minute movie trailer. (At least 1 Minute) Option 11 - Film Highlights Select a film from of your choice and create a video highlighting its main points. (At least 1 Minute) Option 12 - Travel and Tourism Have you ever wanted to travel? Where would you like to go? It is time to create a multimedia presentation embracing diversity and exploring the world. Research and explore a location of your choice. Select a location to highlight for your project. Discuss the location, customs, traditions, language, and cuisine. Discuss the fashion, clothing, entertainment, and employment. Research and find a short video about your location to enhance your presentation. Write a reflection paragraph discussing why you chose your particular location. Guidelines and examples are located below. Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music, and arts. Video Selection, Movie Trailer, or Movie Scene: 50 Complete Reflection: 50 Presentation: 100 Points Guidelines -Title Slide with Name - 10 -Location (Map) - 10 -Customs and Traditions - 10 -Language - 10 -Cuisine - 10 -Fashion and Clothing - 10 -Entertainment: Film Industry Connection - 20 Which films were produced in your location? Which films were highlighted in your location? Which actors, actresses, writers, producers, or directors were born in your location? -Source Slide - 10 -Proofreading - 10 Reflection: (At least 4 Sentences) Connect it to your world. Why did you select this location? What makes this location special? Explain your reasoning. Option 13 - Shot Sizes Select a film and create a video or slideshow demonstrating the shot sizes from a particular film within specific genres. You are also welcome to create a video or slideshow demonstrating the various shot sizes that you photographed. Option 14 - Movie Scene Directions: Research movie scenes in a variety of genres. Select a scene as a group. Silent films are permitted as well. Analyze and interpret the characters and movie scene. Prepare a 3 - 5 minute presentation. The presentation must be memorized. You are welcome to change the lines to fit your needs. You may perform your presentation live or create a video. The reenactment should be clean, family friendly, administrator friendly, and professional. Profanity is not permitted. Examples are located on the Project Example Page.
