Autobiographical Collage Project Guidelines
(Narrative Writing) Due Date: 9/25/2023 Speech Learning Target Goal Students will understand how to present informative speeches. Students will also understand how to incorporate tone, rate, and voice projection when presenting. Common Core Standards Speaking & Listening CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.4 Present information, findings, and supporting evidence clearly, concisely, and logically such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose, audience, and task. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.5 Make strategic use of digital media (e.g., textual, graphical, audio, visual, and interactive elements) in presentations to enhance understanding of findings, reasoning, and evidence and to add interest. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.6 Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and tasks, demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate. Writing CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.3 Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.3.C Use a variety of techniques to sequence events so that they build on one another to create a coherent whole. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.6 Use technology, including the Internet, to produce, publish, and update individual or shared writing products, taking advantage of technology's capacity to link to other information and to display information flexibly and dynamically. Directions Organize life information into 3 categories and create an outline for your autobiographical collage. Create a slideshow discussing 3 aspects of your life. Discuss the past, the present, and the future or discuss 3 memorable events. Send your outline and slideshow to Schoology. All outlines must be typed. Images are required. Your presentation should be at least 3 minutes. Cell phone presentations are not permitted. Due: Example Jane Knight September 8, 2015 Speech I, 8th Hour Autobiographical Speech Outline Purpose: The purpose of this speech is to give some insight about who I am and share it with the class. Introduction: Life was never meant to be easy, but despite many challenges, I am still here. Thesis Statement: This is a brief overview of my life from birth to the person I am today. Body of Speech: I. Early Childhood and Family A. I was born in Detroit, Michigan. B. My brother was really disappointed that I was a girl because he wanted a brother. C. I have one brother and five sisters. II. Elementary Experience A. I went to Wilson Elementary School. B. I was quite introverted; I did not have too many friends. C. I always scored near the top of my class. III. Middle School Experience A. I went to Smith Middle School. B. I was on the swim team. C. I had the highest grades in the school. IV. High School Experience A. I have friends now. B. I work at Subway. C. I would like to go to the University of Michigan. Conclusion: This has been a very brief summary about my life and who I am. Though grades have never been an issue for me, I have struggled with getting and maintaining friends.
